Mini Guide to New Braunfels, Texas!

I had the pleasure of spending about 16 hours in the insanely lovely town of New Braunfels, Texas recently where I played a show with one of my favorite singer/songwriters Mr. Hayes Carll This place has so much more to offer than what is mentioned here but these are a few of my favorite stops! Truly a beautiful place surrounded by the most stunning rivers including the Guadalupe running right through it. Book a flight to San Antonio or Austin and make the short drive, this place is totally worth it…
-EAT at the legendary Gristmill restaurant overlooking the Guadalupe River, and order the made from scratch breaded and fried onion rings (their homemade ranch is legendary, I ordered a small bowl of it for dipping).
-SLEEP at the historic Gruene Mansion Inn, drool over the old bead board walls and soak in the heavenly claw foot tubs. Oh, and do not miss the homemade cookies sitting in the lobby each day! Chris and I loved sitting on the back porch that runs right up to the river…
-LISTEN AND GET DOWN  at Texas’ oldest dance hall-the legendary Gruene Hall (I loooooove doing shows here) featuring music every single day of the year!
-FUDGE it up at the Gruene General Store,  every ounce is made locally with really good butter! The mint chocolate chip and peanut butter swirl had me in an absolute tizzy…
-TUBE the stunning clear waters with the Gruene River Company, can you think of a more perfect day than floating down a river like a deadweight with your cooler in the attached tube next to you?! I didn’t think so…
-SHOP 6,500 square feet of fab finds at the Gruene Antique Company (including killer 100 year old hand painted display signs) in the original mercantile building from 1904.
-DRINK the best margarita in town at Cantina Del Rio, the sangria ain’t too shabby either!
